Mayflower Communications, founded in 1986, is a technology leader in providing cost-effective solutions for high performance affordable radio navigation and communication products for government and commercial markets. Protection from intentional as well as unintentional Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) has been an important technical challenge common to all wireless communications (satellite, cellular or point-to-point) and radio navigation (satellite, terrestrial) systems. An affordable and highly reliable solution to the RFI concerns is needed in order to realize the full benefits of the modern spread spectrum radio navigation and communication systems. Mayflower has led the development of RFI mitigation technologies and products utilizing advances in signal processing, antenna and senor integration technologies.
In the Radio Navigation Area, Mayflower's novel patented RFI mitigation technologies include Adaptive Temporal Filter (ATF), Adaptive Spatial Filter (ASF), Adaptive Temporal-Spatial Filter (ASTF), Self-Interference Canceller (SIC), Spread Spectrum Transceivers, and Pseudolites. Our early application of RFI mitigation technologies focused on Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers that resulted in several successful GPS products. Our product line includes Nulling and Beam forming Antenna Systems (AIC-2100, ACM-400 & ACM-500) and Multi-Function GPS systems (RGR-8000) with embedded data links to provide situation awareness, GPS relative targeting, as well as collision avoidance for aircraft, automobiles and ships.
Mayflower business focus in the Wireless Communications & Networks Area started with our participation as a member of the U.S. delegation supporting FAA in the development of International Civil Aeronautics Organization (ICAO) standards for Aeronautical Mobile Satellite Communications. Recent focus in this area has involved developing spectrally efficient signal modulation and network technologies as well utilizing commercial standards for air interface and network architectures to deliver high capacity and coverage networks to our Government customers. Mayflower's advanced wireless network products address the limitations of coverage and throughput for range telemetry applications. Our product line in the wireless communications and network area include long range over the horizon telemetry systems supporting data rates of 10 to 30 Mbps and short range higher data rate systems exceeding 100 Mbps.
Mayflower has been successful in nurturing advanced technologies and introducing them to commercial market. Mayflower spun-off Envoy Networks, Inc. in 2000, with funding from leading venture capitalists, to focus on mobile wireless infrastructure market. Envoy Networks was subsequently acquired by Texas Instruments in 2002.
Mayflower Communications is affiliated with Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, (AIAA), and the Institute of Navigation (ION) professional societies. The company was recognized as "Graduate of the Year" in 1998 by the US Small Business Administration.
Our customers have included US Department of Defense (Air Force, Army and Navy), US Department of Transportation (Federal Aviation Administration), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and numerous industrial customers.
