ABOUT US

Organization

Mayflower Communications was founded in 1986 by prominent researchers from the Draper Laboratories to develop cost-effective solutions for high performance affordable radio navigation and digital Anti-Jam for government and commercial markets. As a technology-focused company, Mayflower has excelled in furthering the state of the art, racking up numerous industry-firsts. Mayflower was the first to develop and demonstrate a low cost, embedded data link capability in its GPS receiver. Mayflower was the first to develop a low cost, low power Anti-Jam solution. Mayflower was the first to develop a compact digital beam antenna solution while the rest of the industry was focused on developing large RF antenna solutions.

Mayflower was the first to develop an integrated temporal and spatial filter solution that robustly extends the capability of an antenna nulling solution beyond its degree of freedom. Mayflower’s participation, in the 1990s, in the U.S. delegation supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the development of the International Civil Aeronautics Organization (ICAO) standards for Aeronautical Mobile Satellite Communications marked its entry into wireless communication technology.

Mayflower’s focus in wireless communication is to provide wired performance with wireless ubiquity. To this end, Mayflower is developing smart radio, wired-equivalent access, and versatile network technologies under various government-funded programs. Mayflower has a diverse patent portfolio in its core areas of radio navigation, digital Anti-Jam, and wireless communication technology.

A number of Mayflower patented technologies have been reduced to practice in its products. Mayflower has been successful in nurturing advanced technologies and introducing them to commercial market. Mayflower spun-off Envoy Networks, Inc., in 2000, with funding from leading venture capitalists, to focus on mobile wireless infrastructure market. Envoy Networks was subsequently acquired by Texas Instruments in 2002.

Mayflower was the 1998 "Graduate of the Year" of the US Small Business Administration. Mayflower’s current and past customers include the US Department of Defense (Air Force, Army and Navy), US Department of Transportation (Federal Aviation Administration), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and numerous industrial customers.
